Potential Team Meeting
- Hello all Washington Team Leaders,
I hope this e-mail finds everyone well and off to a good start
this school year. As most know, registration open last week for the 2002
season. If your team, or especially a rookie team you may be aware of, has
not yet registered - you should do so ASAP. Demand has been high, and
there are only a few spots left at this point.
I also wanted to send out this e-mail and see how many people
would be able to attend a meeting for all Seattle Area team leaders on
Sunday, Oct 7th. I will be in Seattle on the 7th & the 8th, with David
Brown (FIRST Executive Director), for some meetings and a Dean Kamen
presentation at Microsoft of the 8th. Sunday would be a good time to cover
a variety of issues including:
Update teams on current information for the 2002 Pacific Northwest Regional
Provide information on possible grants and mentor assistance for teams
Information about the 2002 Kickoff
Discuss possible workshops and team assistance efforts
Discuss funding possibilities amongst the teams
and a few other things as well.
I know there is a Seahawks game on the 7th (I bring that up due to
any potential traffic problems), but want to see what time might be better
for the majority. The University of Washington has generously offered to
host a team meeting and provide us with a meeting room. I have been told
parking and traffic are horrible during the game, so it seems a meeting at
UW would need to be in the evening (5-7pm or 6-8pm). The other option
would be to hold a meeting in the afternoon at a local school or other
location away from UW during the game, possibly from 3-5pm or 4-6pm - if
someone can provide a suitable location. Please reply and let me know
which time/location you can attend.
Last, as I may not be aware of new schools in the Seattle area
starting teams (if they have not registered yet), please pass this
invitation on to any school you know is planning to start a team this
year. We would like to get them any assistance or information they may
need, and this meeting will be an ideal chance for them.
I look forward to seeing many of you this Sunday. Have a great week,
