Dear Ms. Kavitha: We used to have the Distributed Proof-reading Implementation DPPM for the prep of etexts in one of the web servers of the Virginia Tech
        Message 3 of 6 , Apr 25, 2017
          Dear Ms. Kavitha:

We used to have the Distributed Proof-reading Implementation DPPM for the prep of
etexts in one of the web servers of the Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg, VA, USA,
thanks to the initiatives of Prof. Kumar Mallikarjunan of Virginia Tech.
During the second half of last year, Virginia Tech did a major over-haul of
their web-hosting services and DPPM was not accessible for many months.

Late last year, Prof. Kumar Mallikarjunan has moved to the Univ. of Minnesota, USA.
So we cannot use the web hosting services of Virginia Tech any more for PM.

We are currently exploring the possibility of installing the DPPM at his new
location (Univ of Minnesota) if Kumar M can get the Univ. support. Else use
one of the commercial web hosting services to implement and run DPPM externally.
We hope to find a workable solution within the next few months.

In the meantime, we are using the Google Online OCR to generate texts from
scanned image files of several Tamil works. The accuracy is sufficient for us
to correct the errors in the OCR output and have the corrected text proof-read
at least once by some other volunteer. I am using the services of few Promads
for this. I will add your name also to this list and will contact you soon for your
assistance in the correcting and/or proof-reading of texts prepared via OCR.
