      A user had a bar graph where bars were averages.
      He knew that he could display the bar values near
      the top of bars using proc bar 'showvalues'. But
      what he wanted to do was display the N associated
      with each average.

      My reply was, that if the N values are present in the
      data, they can be displayed using proc scatterplot
      after the bars are drawn.

      Eg. supposing your data is in file 'mystuff.dat', each
      row having the fields 'date', 'avg' and 'n':

      #proc getdata
      file: mystuff.dat
      fieldnames: date avg n

      #proc areadef
      ...

      // do the bars..
      #proc bars
      locfield: date
      lenfield: avg

      // add the N labels..
      #proc scatterplot
      xfield: date
      yfield: avg
      // ylocation: 7.5(s) // could be used to place labels across top
      labelfield: n
