Subject: [plagpk] Winners of Best Author Award of Info@PULISAA, 2013

      Dear Colleagues,

In June 2013, PULISAA announced the “Best Author of the Info@PULISAA, 2013' Article / Essay writing competition with the objective to encourage young librarians to learn to express themselves as well as to enhance their writing skills.

This indeed was a commendable effort of PULISAA to encourage the to bring forward their hidden talent because, it was generally assumed that youth were being neglected. Unfortunately, the response of the youth was not as high as expected. But the quality of articles received was quite good.

A Panel of judges comprising distinguished librarians from Pakistan and abroad, separately reviewed each of the received articles and scored them according to the following criteria:
      1. Clarity of expression:
      2. Content organization:
      3. Academic rigor:
      4. Sentence structure (Grammar)
      5. Information worthiness
The learned judges sent their individual scores grids to the Jury Chair. According to the total of scores by all judges, the following two articles obtained maximum scores and are hereby declared the winners:
      1. First Prize - “The rise of “Fluffy” Computing & Libraries”, by Amna Farzand Ali, Librarian at University of Central Punjab.
      2. Second Prize - “Being the first Information Commons Librarian of Pakistan”, by Mehreen Tahir, Information Common Librarian FC College University
Hearty Congratulations to both young ladies and very promising young librarians. I appreciate their courage to take initiative and stand up. Success is all about taking the first step!

The articles are being returned to the writers with the comments from worthy judges, to improve and re-write. The final versions will be published in the upcoming issues of Info@PLISAA. Both the articles are just brilliant.

Well done PULISAA – You managed to move the first rain drops! They will sure bring the rain down. What do you think? Young men Librarians? Next time?

      My Best Regards for everyone!
