July has always been a month of celebration ^_^ This year, the theme
for Tomo-Kai's anniversary is "A Piece of Kaleidoscope: Shifting
Scenes at 17".

July 9, 2007
11:30-4PM AS Lobby
There will be booths featuring ikebana (flower arrangement) , origami
(paper folding), Filipino traditional wear and kitsuke (kimono
wearing), shodou (calligraphy) and alibata, and other cultural arts
and practices of both the Philippines and Japan. Of course, the
Tanabata tree remains a constant in the event as an acknowledgment of
the Tanabata Festival in Japan.
An arnis and kendo demonstration will be shown, while UP Kontra-Gapi
and koto players will perform traditional Filipino and Japanese music
during the opening ceremonies. There will also be kakanin and mochi

July 10, 2007
4 pm Roces Avenue
A take on the Filipino version of ramen, this year's contest will have
hungry stomachs feasting on "dirty mami". This popular street food
will be part of an eat-all-you- can contest under a time limit.
July 12, 2007
1-4pm AS Lobby
Similar to last year's Kissaten, this makeshift cafe will be held in
an area floored with mats and pillows. The kimono-wearing servers will
also be there to give the "Tea or coffee?" choice, and the clincher
"Or me?" Manga, magazines and a video clip will be provided.
July 13, 2007
6-10pm Bahay ng Alumni
One of the most awaited events of the Anniversary Week, this year's
Cultural Night will have a plethora of performers ranging from our own
TK performers and aspiring artists, UP Singing Ambassadors, UP
Repertory Company, and artists from the UP Underground Music
Community, Philippine Okinawan Society, Japanese exchange students and
J-Rock bands from Ongaku Society.
