Can anybody say definitively if this is a form of abuse that children should be protected against? Psychiatrists and psychologists in the group, can you please explain why this is child abuse in your clearest terms?

My tendency is to say yes, its child abuse, I just don't know how to say why, based on expert point of view.

Now what we really need is a test case to see if it falls under our local child abuse laws.

      Calling on DSWD.

My suspicion is that a case filed on that premise won't fly, us being a catholic country and all.

There is really so much evil in the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament. I don't understand why it is called holy. Religious leaders always have some ways of rationalizing it, but unlike politics, religion has a privilege that shields it from public criticism.

Is the Bible the inspired word of God?

Before answering please read Deuteronomy 21:10-14

      Marrying Female Captives

"When you go out to war against your enemies, and the LORD your God
gives them into your hand and you take them captive,1and you see among
the captives a beautiful woman, and you desire to take her to be your
      wife,

12and you bring her home to your house, she shall shave her head and
      pare her nails.

13And she shall take off the clothes in which she was captured and shall
remain in your house and lament her father and her mother a full month.
After that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be
      your wife.

14But if you no longer delight in her, you shall let her go where she
wants. But you shall not sell her for money, nor shall you) treat her as
a slave, since you have humiliated her."
