Group Description

'phonologicaltherapy' [phono-tx] provides an opportunity for speech-language professionals to discuss typical and atypical speech development, and the assessment and management of children's speech sound disorders (SSD). Our friendly, international group of over 9,300 includes clinicians, students, researchers and academics in Speech-Language Pathology / Speech and Language Therapy, Audiology, Linguistics and Education.

We adhere strictly to our topic of CHILDREN'S SPEECH, maintaining an Evidence Based Practice (E3BP) emphasis. In this vein, since 2002 we've shared resources, research, theory, ideas and intervention strategies for phonological disorders, articulation disorders, childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), and SSDs associated with craniofacial differences, syndromes and conditions. Discussions also extend to related areas such as literacy acquisition and difficulties with phonological awareness.

Parents and other consumers of Speech-Language Pathology / Speech and Language Therapy services are welcome to join and participate! You are respectfully reminded, however, that phono-tx is for professional discussion and not 'parent advice' or help for adults with speech concerns. Please do not post questions about your own child.

In order to minimize spam, new members' posts are moderated. You will receive an email when you join us that tells you how to request unmoderated status. If an inappropriate post emanates from an unmoderated account it will be removed, and the member will be moderated again.

Be sure to look at the *MANY THERAPY IDEAS* folder in the Links, in the drop-down menu under 'More v', above.

Professionals, please stay on topic, and please DO post - we cannot have discussions without discussants!
