Group Description

The Philippine agriculture today is passing through a phase of crisis. Due to the increasing costs and reducing profitability, more and more farmers are being pushed into the debt trap to high cost of agricultural inputs. It has been realized that high chemical input usage in the long run would yield diminishing returns. Conservation of soil and environment is therefore necessary for sustenance of the livelihood of the rural people. Natural farming technology would not only reduce costs and ensure safety of food to be consumed, it would also make the farmer self sufficient due to the usage of on farm inputs and make optimum utilization of water and other resources. However, venturing into organic or natural farming is not an easy option. It requires hard work and thorough understanding of the nature.

This egroup will cross you over to the hurdles while venturing to natural farming practices, update you on conferences, meetings and workshops organized by the group for exchanging ideas, results and information relating to natural farming. Philippines has a long way to go. Awareness among domestic consumers and concerted efforts by the government, NGOs, banks and scientists are most important for the growth of natural farming in the Philippines.

Let's learn from one another and share our experiences in natural farming in the Philippines.
