I've got a copy of Ken Fern's (the geezer that started the PFAP
project) book. It's very good, and I'vce selected several plant
varieties that I wish to get. The PFAP site being down, I was
wondering if anyone can help please. Many of the most interesting
varieties he suggests seem to be difficult to find...the Crateagus
      and Eleagnus for example.

Where can I get Ken's plants from...is PFAF themselves selling
plants...what's the score please. I must get these species!

Also anyone that's interested in what happened to David Every's hill
country nutter project in Powys' UK...yep the project that was
      lunched by 'the movement'...

      http://www.the-tree.org.uk/MessageBoard/thread.php?id=36

here's the latest..not auspicious news I'm afraid...some sort of sick
karmic joke...guess what a po-lice-man has bought the nuttery, and is
busy cutting down the priceless trees. The best Walnut has
gone...being a pig, he denied that there was a tree where there was.
And then he went on a secruity paranoia trip...suggesting that as his
16 year old daughter might have been at home (no one was in when I
arrived)...You get the picture. Deep breath. I guess my 'barriers'
have come down following a visit to Kashmir...but I swear that if I'd
been carrying a side arm, this certain policman would be no more sir!
No one speaks to me like that.

Never mind, I guess Every was wasting his time, we may as well start
      looking into cacti for here!

Anyway, spent the afternoon digging up cob nut cultivars that have
grown from a pile of nuts dumped nearby...An extremely low input tree
      nursery!
..and planting them all around. In the forest....hedgerows...some
hidden away a few placed at footpath intersections. Mostly for the
bird forms...my favourite beings. Gave a load of these nuts to
Brickhurst by the way (just about 3 miles away)..hope that they are
      doing ok.

      Blessed be.

ps, enjoying this years crop of Ganja (Cannabis). People might not
know that there are very very good cultivars been developed that do
very very well in the UK climate these days. Try 'Seeds direct' for a
reliable internet supplier. I really recommend this as part of the
permacultural whole. It will take you deeper into the goddess, into
the magic of the Mother Earth.

A world away from this scitzo machine...straitness, busy, work and
      ego.

      By for now.

      EXODUS IN THE HOUSE!

Anyway in response to your request for where you can get Kens plants.

The Agroforestry Research Trust thats where. Its run almost singlehanded by a wonderful guy called Martin Crawford. He manages a 2 acre forest garden and a 10 acre nut orchard on the Dartington estate near Totnes. He has an extensive list of plants and seeds of nearly every specis suitable for agroferestry use and whats more its published on an interactive website where you can order direct. He has also published several booklets on the production and culture of various specis which give comprehensive information for the prospective grower. On top of all this he runs courses on forest garden design and nut production. By the way he has a wonderful selection of walnuts in his orchard which have started bearing copius quantities of nuts after only 4 years.  Yes he welcomes visitors by arrangement and has at least 2 dates per year where he provides a conducted tour of both his projects.

By the way I live in Pembrokeshire  and have begun planting up a 4 acre site as a forest garden which you'll be pleased to know contains  4 walnut trees supplied by Martin.
