      cloning is simply another way of describing vegetative reproduction of a
      plant, whereby identical genetics are passed on asexually, rather than
      through sexual reproduction where heterogeneous genetics are combined in
      seeds. garlic and potato sets are clones, as are woody cuttings from
      grapes and figs. unless all of human horticulture (and even some
      non-anthropogenic plant reproduction) were considered anthema, there
      shouldn't be any reason to look down on clonal reproduction. in humans
      and animals, cloning is something of a different matter, of course.
