      Thanks, Ernesto. Works like a champ. I remember running vcvars32.bat when I installed but I have messed with the path variables since then.

      Looks like you've got visual studio installed, but not setup for
      command-line compilation. If you type "CL" at the command-line you
      should get:

      D:\bin>cl
      Microsoft (R) 32-bit C/C++ Optimizing Compiler Version 12.00.8168 for
      80x86
      Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-1998. All rights reserved.

      usage: cl [ option... ] filename... [ /link linkoption... ]

      If you don't get that, you probably need to run this batch file first:

      ....\MSVC6\VC98\Bin\VCVARS32.BAT

      If you haven't got Visual C++ at all, you need to install using PPM.
