      environment. I think only an authorized user or a
      good hacker would be able to do this. It might be
      possible through an ftp connection though.

        basically, it says that all you need to delete a file is its absolute path. could anoyone on the same hypermart server as me delete my bulletin board HTML page? it is chmoded to write execute so my perl script can edit it.

          Yes. If they ran the program from your virtual
          host, gained access to your account, or were
          authorized by hypermart to delete pages in your
          account. The only way I know to do it over the web
          is to gain access to an insecure script.
          Unfortunately, there are enough scripts like
          this out there. If you are concerned about the
          security of your scripts, you can start by reading
          "perlsec" from the standard perl distribution. In
          fact, you should read it even if you are not
          concerned about security.
