      Here is a new spin on the behavior. The *first* time after a soft reset, I
      can search for a huge string without apparent problem. Example: 240 chars
      worked okay.

      However, the *second* search in the same session crashes as soon as I get up
      to 34 chars (33 chars works fine).

      LTH version 5.84 (08:29:02 2001/10/31)
      Palm m105 (PalmOS 3.5)
      Palm Portable Keyboard (v1.5 driver)
      Hack manager: Xmaster 1.3
      Other hacks active: None
      Free memory: 201k
