A big Thank You to the lively group that attended the 10/20 In the Beginning @ the Point of Contact workshop @ Gracewood!

It was so much fun that I'm doing it again, and again.....  on 2nd Sundays from 10-3!

Since the underlying principles involved in Contact Improvisation are so important and unusual I've decided to revisit them each month. Use them to explore different themes and techniques to expand our options in the dance. The more options available the more freedom possible.  For now, it feels right to keep the workshops a mix of all levels, a place for new people to begin and for not-new people to deepen their practice- for all to enjoy the richness of diversity in the process of exploration.

    The next workshop is-

    November 13   10-3pm
In the Beginning @ The Point of Contact ~ Agreements and Principles
    w/ the focus of
Wait Weight Wait & Weight some more (or less)

    Open to all-

-If you came to the first one please do come again (and again....!).
-If this is your first time, welcome!!.

    $50 first-timers
    $30 ever-afters (those that are not first-timers;~)
$10 discount if you bring a friend

In the Beginning @ The Point of Contact ~ Agreements and Principle

-the thinking that underlies the movement

-a simple strategy to care for yourself in all situations

-options to be aware of at the point of contact, the choice point

Thinking and tools to take care of yourself, to be safe. Safe to explore what's possible.
Having options sets you free to experience the infinite potential.

Wait Weight Wait & Weight some more (or less)

Explore weight and waiting in the dance. The giving and receiving of each others weight is fundamental in C.I. to realize it's benefits on many levels. But, the vast majority of us are not familiar with doing this. So, we'll study the particulars and nuance of handling weight to get more comfortable in this most important aspect of C.I.

My longtime C.I. playmate Elizabeth Kerle wrote the following piece on weight and waiting.
I'm delighted that she will be assisting me in the workshop.

     I remember waiting
                    Waiting for weight.
Your weight. Slowly dripping into and through me.
I remember the stark awareness of my cells receiving you
                    Resisting,
                                    Considering
                                                    Relaxing.
    I remember your eyes,
                    Your voice…
    But mostly your weight
                                    And your wait.
On the edge of a thousand possibilities…wait, wait.
    I remember moving,
    choosing,
     deciding.
I remember merging and running away.
I remember the softness of the floor,
    The pouring of weight,
                                    The impulse to wait.
                                                    I remember your pulse.
I remember the flow of my weight to yours.
Flowing deeper into the silent space where there is only weight
    and breath
    and weightlessness.
