      Head Cook / Kitchen Coordinator
      Seasonal Staff Program

      Head Cook/Kitchen Coordinator

The Cook/Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for daily oversight of the kitchen, ordering and shopping for food, menu planning, serving as solo or lead cook for workshops and rental groups, hiring assistants (when necessary), and coordination of kitchen work study. Earthdance's kitchen strives to provide delicious, nourishing cuisine featuring vegetarian food in harmony with the seasons. We value a local, seasonal, ethical, and economical food supply.

This person must enjoy cooking and working with people.  S/he should also be organized, detailed, comfortable with leadership, delegation and oversight, be open to a shared workspace, and have a propensity toward cleanliness.  S/he should have previous experience with vegetarian cuisine and cooking for large groups. The Head Cook works most weekends and works an average of 25 hours/week.

As the Lead Cook for events at Earthdance where the kitchen is at the center of our facility, a certain portion of this position also involves some level of hosting guests, answering questions, and generally facilitating the running of the space. Earthdance as a residential facility also asks staff to occasionally help out with other areas outside of just the kitchen, so there may be times when the Cook/Kitchen Coordinator is invited to lead group orientations, help with maintenance issues, facilitate a meeting, etc.

Compensation: Earthdance is a residential retreat center. This position receives private room and board on site, a base salary of $400 per month, opportunities for additional income, free jams and community events and significant discounts on Earthdance produced workshops.
