With your skills you'll likely be interested in working in one (or more) of the code, web or output sheet teams.
We are always keen to get new members for the code team. Our responsibility is the program you interact with, as well as loading data, driving the output etc. Have a look at http://wiki.pcgen.org/Joining_the_Code_Team but note we also take contributions via github too, so if that is your preferred environment you are welcome to go that way.
