It would be nice if 'File'/'Export' could work on 'txt' OS files as well
as 'PDF' and 'HTML'.

real problem is that File|Export needs a third setting. Or we just
move the .txt OS into the htmlxml directory. Actually all the export
does in the case of the export to "standard" is look at the OS tags
and fill them in. The export to "PDF" is much more complex; it fills
in the OS tags in BASE.XML, and then calls the java XSLT processor(s).
Perhaps there should not be a "text" directory at all, and the
"htmlxml" directory should just be named "standard". I know the
"standard" processor doesn't care about file extensions, it offers to
process my ".bak" files all the time.
I'm thinking this would be a good thing to reorganize post 5.8. We
will be moving all the projects into one, and so all the files will be
moved around anyway. Any thoughts?
