Subject: [pcgen] Information entry
I was thinking about how cool it would be to have a little program,
or whatever you call it ... a programlet, maybe ... that would assist
in the entry of data.
I'm sure that sounds terrifically lazy to those of you that know how
to enter all of this stuff the old-fashioned way (cool thing about
modern life ... typing is old-fashioned), but I'm just having a heck
of a time trying to understand how some of this stuff works.
My big thing at the moment is with prestige classes. I've created a
few that are specific to this campaign I'm running, and it would be
way cool if I were able to somehow throw data into a program and it
would handle all the crunchy bits for me. And that's really what
PCGen is about, right? Freeing our minds from the crunchy bits so
that we can focus on the roleplaying?
I've seen some programs on the web that are designed to do things
like give a numerical value to a class so that you can compare it to
other classes. Would it even be possible to add such a thing to
PCGen, so that I can somehow click on a drop-down menu and tell PCGen
all the stuff that I need to tell it to make either a new core class
or a new prestige class? Or does the variety of rules for prestige
classes make that basically impossible?
