created a new directory and installed 2.6.1 from scratch ... as Mayra
says, I create my Psion and choose specialist, after closing that
window, rather than choosing a speciality, I get:
      \wotc\sourcebooks\dungeonsanddragons\supplements\psionicshandbook\psio
      nicshbspecialist.lst errnull
After hitting OK, I get to choose psi att/def modes and then a free
outfit before I return to the main screen.

        Modify the file
        data\wotc\sourcebooks\dungeonsanddragons\supplements\psionicshandbook\
        psionicshbspecialist.lst
so it has the following contents (all I did was remove a column
header at the end of the "Specialty" line. The blank line between
Specialty and the list of specialties is required)
        -----copy after this line-----------------
        # CVS $Revision: 1.2 $ $Author: merton_monk $
Specialty Cost Class Name Psi-Powers Attribute

Sorry about that. Psions should now get the correct number of powers,
assuming you can get them to work now!

And more, now I have no powers to choose.

I was building a nomad (18dex) and when I get to the spells screen,
the spell window (top left) just has "-Psion" in it. The class Info
block (bottom right) doesn't have a known column and Primary Stat is
listed as "Other" and even stranger, School comes up as Telepathy.

Don't know if it'll help, but here's the pcg:

That was very helpful.... did you select "None" instead
of "Specialist"? From your pcg it looks like you did. If you choose
Specialist and then Nomad from the next list, everything gets
generated properly - including spells and skill costs.

One note, though, in psionicshbclasses.lst, where the specialist list is
referenced, the |None|1 should really be deleted. There's no such thing as a
non-specialist psion, so that option shouldn't be presented.

I checked the difference between 2.6.0 and 2.6.1. Apparently, the
real problem might be that the column "Known Psi-Powers" might be
missing the "KNOWNSPELLSFROMSPECIALTY=1" trait for each subclass. I
think that's why the skills & the spells are not working well, but

Actually, I fixed Psion so that wasn't required. The column header
should also be removed. That shouldn't have anything to do with why
skills and spells aren't working because I removed the column header
for that column and was able to create Psions which got the spells
and skills properly. I'll take another look at it since I'm working
on metamagic feats and spells right now anyway.
