      I have a rudimentary working editor in VB.  I can upload it for comments, or
      just wait until I learn enough JAVA to do it right.
      I selected Equipment.lst as a target, and provided screens to add an item,
      either weapons, armor or magic.
      I did solve the tab thing--Feeling kind of dumb, when I remembered
      chr$(9).....
      but have made no attemp to create a file search routine yet... which will be
      absolutely necessary, of course.

      Are you using the magicitems.lst file? I haven't downloaded the one
      with +5 items in it, but the +4 ones look like they should work.

      Really? I thought I fixed this. If you click on a character's line
      you should be able to type in the initiative in the Initiative box
      just below the table on the left side of the screen near the Roll
      Init button. You can't type directly in the table because the table
      isn't able to do that.
