      Stop the presses:
Dyshod Carter, waived this week by the Arizona Cardinals, has been claimed by the Cleveland Browns.  Number 28, as he is affectionately known in New England (at least by people who had electro-convulsive therapy after Curtis Martin left for the Jets, and are also in denial about Corey Dillon being a team player), was previously waived by the Browns on October 9, 2001, and then signed to the Browns' active roster on October 24, 2001.  Also on October 24, 2001, Earthwind Moreland was signed to the Browns' practice squad.
On December 7, 2001, the Browns claimed tight end Jake Moreland from the Jets, giving rise to the phrase, "Earthwind and Jake."
Back to Dyshod: He was again released on August 28, 2002, the same day Cleveland released Jay Taylor.  Taylor will kick this Sunday for Tampa, which fired its Grammatica after Sunday's fiasco.  When Carter was released on 8 28 02, he was survived in Cleveland by Earthwind Moreland, but briefly: he was among the many players the Browns released on September 1, 2002, the same day they traded a draft pick to San Diego for tight end Steve Heiden.  No one yet knows if Earthwind will pick up Heiden in coverage on Sunday, but if he does, you've been tipped off ahead of time to a whole lot of subtext!
