***** The information from bio prior to his senior season (below) is pretty impressive. The negatives noted later - low trajectory and poor directional skills - are a bit of a concern. Still, it looks like there's a lot of potential here. I really like this kid's athleticism. And he also did handle the PK holding duties at Maryland.

***** I have a strong feeling that we've really dodged a bullet here. This move should have been made at least a month ago, but the delay did not cost us a game, as I feared it might have at any time. With a young stud like Barnard, if he can eliminate those noted weaknesses, he could be here a long time, making major contributions to our field position. For now, let's just hope he makes such contributions for the rest of this fantastic season.

      On Barnard:
An All-America and Ray Guy Award candidate who enters his senior season as Marylands leader in career (43.9), single-season (44.7 in 2000) and single-game (53.8 vs. Temple, 2000) punting averages the nations fourth-leading returning punter from 2001 after posting a 44.5-yard average had a net punting average of 40.4 yards per game, fourth-best in the nation a first team all-conference pick and a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award last year tall, lean, athletic specialist who owns six of the top 12 single-game punting efforts in Maryland history has games where he can find the zone and play a major role in the games outcome from a field position standpoint has opened each of the last two seasons with huge outings (53.8 average against Temple in 2000 and 50.4 average against UNC in 01) has started all but one game the past three seasons could also compete for kickoff duties this season serves as the Terps holder came up big in that capacity a year ago in the Georgia Tech game, snaring an errant snap on Nick Novaks game-tying 46-yarder set the all-time record for clean and jerk by a kicker at Maryland (281) and ran 4.65 in the 40-yard dash in spring testing local product who originally went to Oklahoma to pursue a degree in meteorology.
