Susan, maybe Dave could do a "Good". But he wouldn't have time to finish the "Bad and Ugly" before the regular season starts. This was a game for BB and the coaches to use for teaching. It was not a game that any fan would want to discuss. Seriously. The Patriots backups, for the most part, were just plain awful.

LOL!! Got a good laugh out of not being able to finish the post, etc. Yeah, I know he does use it mostly for teaching and all that. Were there only backups

Were there only backups playing? Do you think that they just need to hit their stride later on in training camp?

Actually, the D line started, and got chewed up by the 'Skins running game. But the caveat to that was that the LBs behind them were not the starting 3. Revis and McCourty also didn't start. So I wasn't upset by the performance of "starting" defense. I was upset by the fact that the 'Skins'backups owned the Patriots' backups on defense, offense and STs.

As for starters on offense, both Thompkins and LaFell played well. (Amendola and Edelman didn't play.) But the "starting" OL, which also was mix and match of starters and backups, was ineffective.

As I said, there weren't enough starters on the field to make any reasonable statement about the 1st team. But it is absolutely fair to say that the backups, except for the few I noted earlier, sucked!

You know, deep down, BB was somewhat glad that we struggled. Teaching moment, yes. But also, there has been a lot of hype about how good this team could be. A dose of reality right off the bat may be a good thing.

Sorry Susan. I don t watch the pre-season games. I may take a look at some of the highlights or sneak in a couple minutes here or there, but there is no way

Sorry Susan.  I don’t watch the pre-season games.  I may take a look at some of the highlights or sneak in a couple minutes here or there, but there is no way I can actually sit through the entire game.  I don’t care about scores as BB typically will call plays to work on situations instead of going for a win (witness the Tyms end zone catch that was ruled incomplete that everyone is talking about.  Regular season, BB challenges it.  Here, we get a first and goal to work on.)

Once the season starts, I’ll start the GBU again.
