Re: [patriotzip] Are the Patriots too young?
- Are you serious? Gronk and Hernandez are only 23? Holy cow---I didn't realize that. I read an article about Hernandez's workout routine off-season and it really makes you realize how serious he is about his career. I know others do an off-season workout schedule, but I'm impessed with him!----- Original Message -----From: Mark MorseSent: Monday, September 03, 2012 8:20 AMSubject: [patriotzip] Are the Patriots too young? With the rash of veteran cuts and free agents that didn't work out, this edition of the Patriots is the youngest Bill Belichick has ever fielded. According to the Globe's Greg Bedard the 2012 avg age is 25 and 274 days. Next closest is the 2010 which was 26 and 280 days. Thats a whole year difference! The average age is 25.8 years versus the league average of 27.2. Even more shocking is the Defense which averages just 25.0 years of age. Wilfork and White are the only players over 30!One of the national pundits declared the Patriots had the most impact players under the age of 25. People don't realize how young Gronk and Hernandez are (23)! Their signings were a brilliant move by the Pats.In the past, it was siad the Patriots had a good clubhouse with veteran players that took the younger players under their wings and taught them how to be professionals. Who are they now? Gronk? McCourty? Chung? Gregory?I also think last years raid on Patriots waivers and cuts with 11 players signed after cutdown day had a big impact on their decisions this year. Veterans were released with a thought they would not get picked up. So far just two safeties (Brown and Ihedigbo) were scoffed up.Mark Morse
