Considering the history of the Patriots and Jets franchises, one could easily say that rooting for the Jets at anytime is a sign of the Apocolypse. On the other hand, remaining loyal to the Eastern Division seems the logical path. Another argument is to root for the Conference, as a last resort. I hope I do not offend any of my fellow listers when I say that to root for anyone other than a team you are a fan of is hypocrisy. I can't root for the Jets, under any circumstances. I have hated them since childhood, when Namath's arrogant face filled the tv screen as he guaranteed a win against the Baltimore Colts, who were heavily favored. He won the bet that day. I hated them then, and I hate them today, and I will hate them tomorrow; I hope every time I see their name on a scheduled broadcast that I will see them the next day in a column reporting their humiliating defeat to an inferior
This may seem childish to some, or maybe even stupid or insane. I can't help it! My hatred for the haters has driven me to this point. I never want to see a Jets victory. Of those teams which I dislike (and there are more than a few), they are at the bottom of the pile. We may never shed the image of "cheaters" they labeled us with. They are an arrogant bunch, and their fans would not root for our team under any circumstances, claiming our success is due to the cheating label that they created. I can't imagine any scenario that could cause me to root for them. The opposite is true, I root AGAINST them, whenever they play. My philosophy is, if the Patriots can't go all the way, then anybody but the jets. Of course, all of this is only my opinion, not meant to insult or defend any one else's position. Unless it makes the jets lose.Anything can happen, to Anyone, at Anytime.
