      I recreated this example network in my lab. It's straight out of Building Scalable Cisco Networks by   Paquet, page 25. It's used to illustrate the convergence sequence for RIP. Here's the situation: When router C loses its direct connection to 1.1.0.0 it sends out a flash update to router D. Router D should then put 1.1.0.0 into holddown. The debug ip rip and debug ip routing output from router D that the book provides shows this happening, however, in my lab it doesn't. The debug ip rip and debug ip routing ouput from my router D is included at the end for reference with some comments for clarity. Instead Router D deletes the route from its routing table instead of putting it into holddown. Any experts who truly know what the deal is are welcomed to respond.
