        Kriste,

Kudos to you! I have a very similar story and have written over the years to many, many in the Senate. I got sick in 1984 and it has been chronic and on and on it all goes. I succeed when I push and push and figure out the key to working the system, which changes nearly on a monthly basis.

Do stay in touch and let me (us) know if you get any results. I have had the support of Senator Chuck Schumer of New York who writes letters to the USDOL/OWCP when I am out of steam but he is not making any national changes.

We need to be heard. I have had some interest in the media to go public about this but I am usually too busy working on my OWCP never-ending issues or with healing or with being sick to tackle this but would like to work on it this summer if anyone will join me in the attempt to share their story.

Is anyone else out there, still? I miss hearing from folks and was also wondering where we all went.

        Do give word, group!!!

As far as I know, we are still using this list. As
always, I haven't experienced the same problems as many
others on the list, except for the constant change of case
workers. I think this is because I go through the Seattle
office. I have been thinking of writing a letter to the
Peace Corps, along with my representative, as my condition
(Lariam induced) is still largely a mystery - although my
psychologist thinks that it is brain damage. Anyway, I'm
hoping that everything will go okay with billing when I
see a specialist at UCLA in May. It is sad hoping that
the CAT scans show brain damage, but at least it will be
          an answer.

Contact the Peace Corps and tell them you want to file a FECA claim. They will send you all the paperwork. -- Felicia

has anyone had any luck talking to a lawyer? i don't
want to sue or anything, i just want to get a better
sense for what my rights are at this point. has anyone
found a lawyer who actually seems to know (ie. knows
                more than we do?)

i haven't filed any claims in a while and don't know
if it has been too long. since i don't have great
supporting documentation (ie. notes from a MD) in the
interim, i'm not sure if i can even reasonably expect
any coverage at this point, even though i have never
stopped my care (just been paying out of pocket).

i'm in vermont. when i looked into this same question
in wisconsin, i found a lot of state workers comp
lawyers, but found no federal ones locally.

                thanks for any thoughts.

shoulders saying if you don't have a doctor willing to
go to bat for you it is a lost cause with the DOL, I
got the same sort of response when I talked to the
lawyers that work for the Office of Inspector General,
basically they ended up telling me they work to
protect the Peace Corps and not former volunteers and
if I had a problem go find a lawyer.
