    Hi Guys,

for this season. Please make sure to check your rosters and farms as we go.

The Warthogs and Sluggers will have to provide the visiting managers with
their rosters and rotations. I do not have them.

One last note, if you have not benched your pitchers please notify the
manager who will manage your away games with that information.

    Thanks All and PLAYBALL!

Chesterton – It looks like it is going to be a tough year for the Oxen.  It looks like the top of the pitching order will be good with David Price but the rest of the line-up is suspect.

Game 1:  David Price (1-0) threw a complete game shutout while besting Cole Hamels.  Price gave up 3 hits, 1BB while striking out 8.  Drew Butera was the surprise batter of the game going 2 for 4 and three RBIs.  His bases clearing double in the 4th inning sealed the victory for the Oxen.

3 injuries in the game: Pujols, Hundley and Cedeno.  4 Oxen had 2 hits.

Game 2: Newly acquired W. Chen was wild with 7 walks, but gave up no hits until the 6th inning when the gates flooded open.  Chen gave up 5 runs in the 6th allowing the Knights to take the lad 5-3.  In the bottom of 9th, 2 outs, bases loaded, behind 5-6 Rick Ankiel came to the plate.  Ankiel battled Thornton and fisted one to right knocking in Cuddyer to the tie the game.  Hosmer piled into Hundley to score the winning run.  The throw from Upton was right on, but Hosmer hit Hundley so hard it knocked the ball loose.  Unbelievable – Oxen win second straight.
Butera got another 2 hits and is hitting .571.  Delgado finished the game to get the win (1-0).  Delgado struck out the first 3 batters he faced.  Chen barely got out of this one.

Game 3:  Westbrook (0-1, 7.11) was horrible, giving up 5 ER in 6.1 innings.  Every Roseville starter had at least one hit, with De Aza leading with 3.  Drew Butera’s hit streak ended in game 3.  3 stolen bases by Roseville .  Arroyo pitched well enough to win, giving up 8 hits, 1 ER, 1BB and 4 K.  The Oxen had a chance to tie the game up in the bottom of the ninth.  Behind 5-1, Upton raced back to the wall and picked Hosmer clean.  Keppinger followed with a single.  Morneau backed that up with a single and Jansen came in to relieve Arroyo.  Jansen strikes out Butera.  Jansen hits Ankiel to load up the bases.  Cedeno piled into the next pitch  … appeared to be trouble but for a second time Upton races back to the wall and picks another one clean, and that ended the game.

Game 4: Gee (0-1, 12.38) was even worse than Westbrook in game 3.  Giving up 15 hits, 11 ER, 4 BB and 8 K.  Altogether the Knights had 17 hits.  Not much more to say, except that Barajas is soar after being hit by pitches 3 times in 4 games.  Although, Barajas was strong enough to get his first homer of the year.   The Oxen are having difficulty getting homers in their new park, but the Knights.  In Game 4, Pujols, Alvarez and Espinosa 2 all went yard.  The Oxen might be wondering if they should have moved out of the dome and into Target Field.

So what looked like a promising start, ended in a thud with the Oxen all knotted up at 2-2.

    Sox 1  Orioles 3
    Sox 2  Comets 2
    Sox 4  Chauns 1

Sox shutout Aberdeen 2-0 in the opener but the Orioles take the next 3 including game 4 3-2 on a Adam Laroche 9th inning homer off J.P.Howell
Comets win game 1 6-4 with 3 in the 7th and 3 in the 8th despite 2 HR's from Stanton, Morrow again throws shutout ball in game 2 and the series splits 2-2.
Chauns crush Quintana and Lindblom for a 14-2 win in game 1. Sox come back tough to win the next 4, Braun Stanton and Aybar homer in an 8 run third to win game 2 10-3. Rodney saves Games 3,4 and 5 to close out a strong finish for Chicago.
