fingerpicker Glenn Jones released his solo disc, This is the Wind
that Blows it Out, last year on the Strange Attractors label. One of
our favorite post-Fahey (or post-Sam McGee) pickers of new and
emotional Americana, his playing is bright, clear and melodic. His
15-year-running avant-garage band Cul de Sac has realeased eight
records, including one with John Fahey, and toured internationally
with Damo Suzuki of Can.

seriously weird Baltimore trio of Bob Wagner (Can Openers, Pleasant
Livers, the so-called "Han Bennik of Hampden"), Dan Breen (Financial
Group, Snacks, Lafayette Gilchrist band alumn), and instument
inventor Neil Feather perform as a kind of sproingy power-trio,
centered around Feather's "Former Guitar" family of instruments. The
effect is sort of like Cream if they were influence by Derek Bailey
instead of Robert Johnson and every note got whammy-barred like crazy.

SOME UNUSUAL PLATTERS ARRIVED IN THE PAST FEW DAYS
Jacques Dutronc - Les Responsable (Vogue, Canada) VG/VG $35 small
ink notations to rear panel. a few light marks to the second side.
A real nice copy overall of the fourth LP by, perhaps, the
only "great" French rocker of the late 60s. Dutronc was capable of
Stonesy badassed garage-punk vibes despite his thorough Gallic
sensibility. Dig the title track to this bad boy at the great

Ismael Rivera con Sus Cachimbos - Esto Fue lo que Trajo el Barco
(Tico) M-/M- $30 1972 salsa-soul. cutout, else a flawless copy in
The Holy Modal Rounders - Alleged in Their Own Time (Rounder) M-
/VG+ $15 w/ semi-pornographic insert. Great dazed, playful 1975
extension of their Anthology of American Folk Music-derived clatter.
The Holy Modal Rounders - 2 (Prestige) VG/VG+ $20 light water
damage to rear panel. same as above but ten years earlier.
Rabindra - All I See Is You (Takoma) M-/M- $7 yoga-folk on
Tim Buckley - Starsailor (Straight/ Warner) VG+/VG $18 a
moderately needle-burnt copy of his scarcest and, arguably, best.
v/a - Guitar Solos 3 (Red) M-/M- $20 1979 Fred Frith-curated
compilation of extended guitar works by Keith Rowe, Henry Kaiser,
Davey Williams and others.
Eugene Chadbourne - Vermin of the Blues (Fundamental) M-/M- $15
Yoko Ono - Fly (Apple) M-/M- $45 a staggeringly nice non-cutout
copy with both the poster and postcard. Simply one of the greatest
psychedelic records ever made, Yoko's second solo record is her last
to attempt an equal-parts meshing of Fluxus conceptualism, leftist
politics, heavy guitar rock, free improvisation, and post-language
glottal workouts. A jewel if there ever was one.
Yoko Ono - Feeling the Space (Apple) still sealed $30 personal
and political songs for rock band.
Otis Redding - Otis Blue (Volt) VG+/M- $25 a lovely original
showing only small touches of wear at the corners.
Otis Redding - Pain in My Heart (Atco) VG+/M- $85 same as above.
his first LP.
Otis Redding - Sings Soul Ballads (Volt) VG+/M- $25 lovely.
Otis Redding - The Soul Album (Volt) M-/M- $25 flawless. an
absolutely un-upgradable original copy.
Otis Redding - Live in Europe (Volt) VG+/M- $20
Otis Redding - Dictionary of Soul (Volt) M-/M- $25 still in
Otis Redding - Dock of the Bay (Volt) M-/M- $20 still in partial
Otis Redding / Carla Thomas - King and Queen (Stax) M-/M- $25
