Sydney Cathedral's 50th Celebration - 18-19 October
- 50-YEAR JUBILEE OF THE GREAT CONSECRATION
OF THE SAINTS PETER & PAUL CATHEDRAL IN STRATHFIELD
The program of celebration has been established with the blessing of
His Grace, Archbishop Hilarion of Sydney, Australia & New Zealand and
is to be held on 18 - 19 October 2003.
The Harbin icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" is
expected to visit Australia at the time of the celebration together
with the First-Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, His
Eminence Metropolitan LAURUS. A large number of clergy and faithful
are also expected to attend the services.
Church Celebration Program:
Saturday - 18 October 2003
5.15 pm Greeting of the Harbin icon of the Mother of God and His
Eminence Metropolitan LAURUS at Sts. Peter & Paul Cathedral.
5.30 pm A memorial service (panihida) for the founders of the
Cathedral. All clergy and faithful will proceed to the grave of ever-
memorable Archbishop THEODORE at the end of the panihida where
everyone will sing "Memory Eternal".
6.00 pm Festive Sunday Vigil. The service will be sung antiphonally
by the Archbishop's Choir and a male chorus consisting of the clergy.
Sunday - 19 October 2003
8.30 am Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan LAURUS and
His Grace Archbishop HILARION together with the concelebrating
clergy. After the Liturgy a festive molebin and procession around the
cathedral will be held.
