Subject: AFP Russian Orthodox patriarch Alexy II rushed to hospital

MOSCOW, Oct 28 (AFP) - Russian Orthodox Patriarch Alexy II was
      rushed to
hospital on Monday after suffering a heart attack during a visit to
      the
Caspian Sea port of Astrakhan, Russian media reports said.
The gazeta.ru Internet news site said doctors ranked his condition
      as
serious after he was rushed into an intensive care unit.
But they added that the decision was due to a lack of a separate
      room for
      the 72-year-old cleric.
Alexy was said to have suffered a number of earlier heart
      attacks.
ITAR-TASS news agency earlier said that doctors determined that he
      was
suffering from fatigue from his travels inside Russia, and stress
      over last
      week's hostage-taking in Moscow.
Alexy II arrived in Astrakhan on Saturday to take part in
      ceremonies
marking the 400th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox diocese there.
His return to Moscow has been postponed for several days.
