Dear signature requestors , (your letter was not signed) Regarding your letter requesting signatures, I find the following excerpt from your letter truly
    Message 1 of 1 , Dec 30, 2005
Dear "signature requestors", (your letter was not signed)

Regarding your letter requesting signatures, I find the following excerpt
      from your letter truly ironic:

We understand the difficult position you find yourself in. Yet, we implore
you to review the Epistle, consider its merits and add your signature to it.

Are you prepared to do this immediately, and if not, under what conditions?
Does a certain number of clergy need to sign it before you feel comfortable
adding your name? Would it be easier if you saw the names of certain priests
already signed on to the Epistle before you would add your name? What other
preferences might you have? We assure you that all the signatures of the
clergy who have agreed to sign the Epistle will be presented together at one
      time.

      What slavish politicking!

You are asking for signatures of people with no backbone? People who wait
and see who else signed before putting on their own signature? The
signatures of such people are of no value (to people truly standing up for
the truth), they will sign anything once its "easy and comfortable". Are you
trying to scrape the wishy washy dregs from the bottom of the barrel?
Offering ways "to feel comfortable", to "make it easier" to sign. For what?
Supposedly, to avoid discomfort for standing up for one's beliefs? Is this
the kind of people your society is attracting? Who can't stand up on their
own to support their beliefs unless its "easy and comfortable"? And you
call yourselves the The Blessed Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky) Memorial
Society? What a disservice to the memory of Vladika Antony. And, at the same
time, your society condemns Met. Sergius for his supposed lack of will to
endure real, physical persecution; not "discomfort". Do you "understand the
difficult position" Met. Sergius was in? Why don't you give him some of the
same understanding and "slack" that you offer yourselves and your members?

You ask, "What other preferences might you have?"

I would prefer that you take to heart the following:

Our God-given hierarchy is in the process of healing the great rift in the
Russian Church. Let the will of God, through the God appointed hierarchy,
take its course. Do not find yourselves standing in opposition to God's
will. It is truly detrimental to you souls. Some people are always proudly
thinking that they know better than their God-appointed hierarchs. Do you
also think you are "saving the Church" by your actions?

Please, come to your senses. Reject your all-knowing pride. Drop these
petitions, and pray to God that He would give wisdom to our hierarchs to
lead the Church in accordance to His will.

      With Love in Christ,

      Archpriest Ilya Gorsky

The Blessed Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky) Memorial Society

A Message to the Clergy of ROCOR

      Dear Fr. ILYA !

The All-Diaspora Council will soon be upon us. It will be a turning point in
the history of the Diaspora, when it will be essential for each one of us to
openly state our opinion on the possible union of ROCOR and the Moscow
Patriarchate (MP). The Blessed Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky) Memorial
Society has prepared an Epistle to the Council, which without any doubt,
reflects the opinion of a majority of the parishioners and clergy of the
Church Abroad. Any willing parishioner or clergy may sign the Epistle but
the signatures of our clerics are especially important. An agreement of
opinion between the pastors and their flocks on the proposal of our union
with the MP will have a substantial impact at the council.

We assure you that all the signatures of the
clergy who have agreed to sign the Epistle will be presented together at one
      time.

You can be assured that your address will not be displayed on the list of
      signatures on the internet.

Please respond in Russian or English:
