- Why doesn't batushka read a general prayer for those who commune regularly and who he knows? This would solve much of the problem, especially with so many people complaining.
St John of Kronstadt read a general prayer. The people repented of their sins while he read the prayer.

As Michael points out, counseling, conversation and crisis management
which occur during confession and lead to long lines should be held
privately at another time. If everyone takes more than 10 minutes and
there are 30-50 people waiting, the priest would be there for hours. In
addition to some of the reasons Michael cited, it can be difficult for
others to wait if they have small children, live far from the parish,
car pool with others etc. Most importantly, it is not fair to batisushka
who usually is the first to come for Vigil, last to leave and then is
certainly the first to arrive at church in the morning for the
Proskomedija, well before anyone else. He himself may not live around
the corner from the church.

It is a "NOVELTY" our priest has vowed never to do in our parish. He
goes on to say he is not of the same saintly bearing as St. John of
Kronstadt who was exceptionally gifted in spiritual matters. Only St.
John of Kronstadt could do such things as the so-called "general
confession." On the other hand, the spiritually corrupt Episcopal
church ALWAYS uses the general confession...
