      I think that means down in terms of against the plywood If you try and install it in the other direction it will not bend as easily. If you have a bit of time I do a prebend by wrapping in a wet towels and propping it between two supports and putting something heavy in the middle and leaving it for a couple of days.

      What you are trying to do is minimise the sanding/planing you need to do for the bottom to have a flat surface to sit against across the bottom.
