1727Re: Long Time Lurker, First Time Boat Builder
- Aug 1, 2013I think that means down in terms of against the plywood If you try and install it in the other direction it will not bend as easily. If you have a bit of time I do a prebend by wrapping in a wet towels and propping it between two supports and putting something heavy in the middle and leaving it for a couple of days.
What you are trying to do is minimise the sanding/planing you need to do for the bottom to have a flat surface to sit against across the bottom.

I have cut the chine logs and the directions say to install the widest part down, but does not state which edge goes against the side of the boat. Any help would really be appreciated. I am not sure how this is going to turn out, because I have made a few minor (I hope) errors during construction. Thanks for a great and fascinating group.--Gary In Jacksonville, FL
