I did read a books about our DuPont one-room schoolhouse for 'colored'
children-1920. The teacher's salary was much less than $65/month. I did not
see evidence of a teacher strike. I will keep looking.

Bill Sherman is looking for information on strikes with one-room school
teachers. He asked me to pass it on.

Here's what he's looking for: "I'm wondering if you could send out a request
on strikes involving one-room school teachers. Just ask if anyone has any
details they can share about a strike undertaken by any teacher(s) teaching
in a one-room school. We have documentation that seven teachers teaching in
one-room schools in Mound Prairie township in Jasper County near Newton,
Iowa, went on strike February 4, 1920, to protest low pay--$65 a month. Has
anyone come across any information about strikes involving one-room school
      teachers?
      - Bill Sherman"
