Steve brought Garrett's new ATGold and I eagerly used it to learn a new detector. Not much of a learning curve. The Gold has a unique Iron Audio feature that lets you spot-check junk targets without ever leaving its True All Metal Mode. Which is not available on any other machine that I know of. It definitely will cut down on the junk targets you will dig. I wasn't sure how much I would like the machine but after an afternoon of testing the Iron Audio "feature" on targets it said was no good, I am a believer. I also checked good targets that sounded to have trash around them. Several targets I dug would have a good target and have trash below, around, and above the target and the Gold would still pick them out. Another new addition to the Gold was the new 5×8 PROformance Double-D coil that is a trash separating gem! Don't let the size of the coil fool you. In one instance, Brian had came to film one of my targets and it sounded deep, but I had trouble locating it Only to find a buck and ball, the buckshot part, to be at nine inches I was shocked to say the least.. If you think just because the AtGold has "Gold" in the name, that it is a Gold Dedicated detector, you would be mistaken. I see alot of relic hunters finding a great machine to add to their arsenal Including mine. With the different coil options, this machine is a great addition to Garrett's line.
