For anyone who is following this process, the NYS Regents Charter School Office (the Other charter authorizer- besides SUNY CSI , Eva's and other's rubber stamp) accepted 51 letters of intent for Round 2 potential charter school operators in NYS on July 7th.

I have been asking when those letters will be posted ( so we can folow up- make comments etc) and was told it would be done by the end of this week.

I keep checking the website ( how is that for transparency/process?)

Because there were so many applications, more than anticipated, the posting has been moved back to early next week.

If you want more info, I spoke with the very helpful Kim Santiago ( listed below).

Still nothing up on the NYS Regents website for those schools ( I mean not-for-profit education corporations) that submitted a letter on intent on July 7th.

Still nothing up on the NYS Regents website for those schools ( I mean not-for-profit education corporations) that submitted a letter on intent on July 7th.

These new schools will be IN ADDITION to those put out by SUNY CSI, the other* NYS charter school authorizer.

So much for transparency and efficiency!

      * Why does NYS have 2 charter authorizers?
Becuase Pataki was afraid the Regents ( appointed by the  opposition) would not print the charters fast and loose enough  so he created a body the Gov controls.

Why did the Legislative ( opposition)  leadership and the Unions go along?

They had their price, apparently, and it was cheap, especially when  compared to the destruction wrought by this body on NYS public education.
Read it in the tell-all ( names named) treatise by former CSI ED Jonas Chartok, attached.
