Hi Norm and all,
I realize New York City parents and teachers are fighting for smaller class sizes. I've just referenced a new study on my blog that might interest you. Note what the Lubienski's have to say about smaller class sizes (and the impact of certified teachers) on math instruction. Apparently, public schools are outperforming private schools in math instruction and these are two key factors.
My apologies if you are already aware of this study. If not, go here for more information and a link: http://aplacetorespond.blogspot.com/2009/02/public-schools-outperform-private.html
