      Help stop the Charter Invasion of the Washington Irving Campus!

      At 6pm on December 10th, there will be a public hearing about the proposed colocation of Eva Moskowitz's Success Academy chain in the Washington Irving High School campus. Join a demonstration to show you support for the public schools in the campus at 4:15 in Union Square, and speak out at the hearing that begins at 6pm in the school at 40 Irving Place.

      Public Forum: High Stakes Testing: Helping or Hurting Education?

      December 10, 2012, 6pm
      The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center 3940 BROADWAY @ 165 STREET (A/C/1 trains to 168th Street station)

      Find out how testing is affecting schools in Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood, and examine if they are serving the best interests of our students, including special populations and ELL students. Can alternative assessments and more balanced testing policies measure achievement and promote more meaningful “accountability”?

      If you can, download the petition and the accompanying educational leaflet to to distribute to your coworkers.
