Duwende presents top indie bands, 10/16 in NYC!
- Hello all,
Mark your calendars for a great show that all you
music lovers out there will NOT want to miss.
On October 16, come on down to Coda, the raved-about
new club in midtown Manhattan, and join Duwende for a
very special triple-bill concert we've put together
with some friends from the non-acappella world. We've
had the pleasure of playing with these critically
acclaimed bands before, and we know firsthand that
they're making some of the best independent music in
the Northeast today. So get ready for a show that will
break down musical barriers and blow you away with a
night of rockin' good music--period!
DUWENDE + THE AMBER DELAURENTIS BAND + THE PATIOKINGS
Thursday, October 16, 8PM
34 East 34th Street at Madison Ave.
New York City

* Amber deLaurentis (http://www.amberdelaurentis.com)
A rising star in Philadelphia's indie music scene,
Amber has earned comparisons to Carole King and Bonnie
Raitt for her songwriting craft, piano chops and
powerful vocals. She was recently chosen, along with
Duwende, as one of the top indie acts in the Northeast
by the editors of Billboard Magazine, and was the
grand prize winner at the Northeast regional showcase
of Discmakers' Independent Music World Series.
* Duwende (http://www.duwende.com)
Six unaccompanied voices, delivering the evening's
dose of all-vocal funk, rock, and hip-hop. Last year
the editors of Billboard Magazine selected Duwende out
of 1200 bands as one of the "Top Six Indie Acts in the
Northeast," and the Boston Globe pays the band "the
ultimate musical compliment... an honor generally
reserved for the likes of Basement Jaxx or Bjork."
* The Patiokings (http://www.patiokings.com)
This incredibly tight four-piece jam band from
Northampton, MA headlined this year's Block Island
Music Festival, where they had every live body moving
with their irresistible funk-laden grooves. The
Washington Post raves: "The Patiokings have the
soulful, jazzy R&B thing *down.*" The Baltimore Sun
writes: "The quartet's songs are a powerful dose of
modern urban rhythm, artfully cut with the full,
smooth and funky sounds of a bygone era. Its style has
been held up to that of Jamiroquai and Medeski, Martin
and Wood, but the Patiokings' original sound doesn't
easily beg comparisons."
Converted from an old bank in midtown Manhattan, Coda
(http://www.coda34.com) has been generating buzz for
its spacious, eye-catching interior (marble floors,
20-foot ceilings, vaults transformed into chic lounge
rooms), action-packed dance floor, abundant and plush
seating, great live acts, and state-of-the-art sound
system. Coda is one of the New York Times' Top Picks
in the "Music Clubs/Lounges/After Work" categories,
and has been singled out by VelvetList.com as one of
the hippest places to party in New York City.
So put on your dancing shoes, come thirsty, and treat
yourself to a night of great ambiance and great music
across the board. We hope to see you there!
