Restorative Justice Forum 9/11 & video alert BURNING BRIDGES - HEALING JUSTICE:
Restorative Justice in a Post-9/11 World

AN EVENING WITH PAUL McCOLD, Ph.D.
Chair of The United Nations Working Party on Restorative Justice
Alliance of NGOs on Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice (NY)

and DISTRICT JUDGE DANIEL FINELLO, Jr., WARMINSTER, PA

THE AMERICAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS BASED ON A RETRIBUTIVE MODEL THAT SEEKS TO PREVENT CRIME BY PUNISHING THOSE WHO ARE CAUGHT AND CONVICTED. SEVEN OUT OF TEN TIMES RETRIBUTION FAILS TO DETER REPEAT OFFENSES. BY MOST ACCOUNTS, OUR SYSTEM IS DEEPLY FLAWED AND BROKEN. COULD RESTORATIVE PRACTICES CHANGE THIS OUTCOME? COULD IT WORK WHEN APPLIED TO KILLERS AND TERRORISTS?

      FEATURING THE VIDEO:
       BURNING BRIDGES

A documentary about the arson of Mood's Bridge, a historic covered bridge on Blooming Glen Road in East Rockhill Township, Bucks County, PA, and the restorative conference held in its wake. Facilitated by the International Institute for Restorative Practices, the emotional conference brought together the six young men who set fire to the bridge with their families and members of the community. Burning Bridges tells the story of a community moving through grief and anger to healing.
