Chris - This may be even more reason to celebrate his Birthday at River City.

As has been mentioned on this list and EarlScruggs.com, Earl did require one surgery on his knee. I just heard Eddie Stubbs report on WSM that he had the surgery on tuesday and it went very well. Apparently Earl had an artificial knee replacement after a car accident in 1955. He reinjured the artificial knee in the fall, but the good news is, he didn't have to have the complete knee replacement surgery again, but as Eddie put it, 'they just had to replace the G string that held his artificial knee in place'.

He also said Earl was doing very well and sat up in a chair for several hours today. He is expected to be in the hospital 3 or 4 more days, then will have about a week of therapy after that. The Myrtle Beach show was the last scheduled show for the year and the next one booked is for January 7th 2006 in Portland, Oregon. If all goes well Earl will be there and will not miss one show date! Eddie stated this news was exclusive information to WSM, as it is the radio station of choice to the Scruggs family, they wanted the station to be the first to break the details of Earl's surgery.

Eddie also mentioned that Louise has been hospitalized for back trouble, but is improving. He put the listener on the honor system and asked people to keep Earl and Louise in their thoughts and prayers and gave an address for those wanting to send a card to the Scruggs family. P.O.
