- -We use a Magellan Sportrak Pro not a lot of difference except the
Pro has a little more memory for loading a larger map region. I
haven't seen any free maps, we have a CD from Magellan that has the
U.S. on it. The only problem is you can only store one map region.
We just went to Disneyland so I uploaded Orange county area, now I
need to upload our area back to it.
It has basemaps with major roads already on it but you need a CD to
get all the little streets too.
If he gets serious into geocaching a PocketPC comes in handy. We
use Mapopolis. I have all of California on it and it is easy to
select a route to go to and gives voice directions as well as
visuals once you connect a GPS to it.
Have him get a hold of me with any other questions on the Magellan.
Once you learn its features its a really nice GPS.
