  • My desktop with Linux died; and I can't get my laptop, which has a problem with it's screen, to recognize the second monitor under Linux, so I haven't been able to run Linux on a daily basis in a useable form. Every time I think I'll get the money for a new computer something comes up. Two weeks ago I had to get a new furnace, so I am delayed even further. I haven't tried to get...

  • Lee, You should be able to find older versions of Wine. It's been a long time since I have used Debian instead of Ubuntu (Yes, I know Ubuntu is based on Debian.), but there are older repositories available for various Debian packages. Either searching the Debian site, or a Google search should point you to what you need. You should be able to do this within Debian via the package...

  • Do you mean current version of Ubuntu or Wine? With Ubuntu 11.x and up, the new interface makes alt+tab a little off for me. I have to try a couple of times to get it to go to the program I want. This is whether I have a program running in Wine or not. Larry Hamilton ________________________________ From: Lee Underwood To: ntb-linux@^$1 Sent: Sunday, April 29, 2012 1:54 PM Subject...

  • It does not make aense that Ubuntu updates fior the beta 5x series is hard to find. I have not been able to test to see if there is anything new to report. I may have to find time to compile from source. It isn't hard, but takes more atrention to detail than just installing an update. Larry Sent from Yahoo! • I should have advised going to Wine 1.4, which is the new stable release. I have not posted for awhile as I am getting my house ready to sell, on top of other projects. ~ Larry ________________________________ From: fw7oaks To: ntb-linux@^$1 Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2012 7:24 PM Subject: Re: [ntb-linux] Problem with cursor focus I'd get a more up-to-date version of wine from www...

  • No problems on my home PC using Firefox on Ubuntu. When I have weird unexplained problems helping clients with the various software I support in my day job (accounting & payroll) I call it a "Twighlight Zone Issue". I like to have answers and clients often demand them, but if you can't find the circumstances that led to the cause, then the answer is, "I don't know". I hate that...

  • Well, since it was all my Yahoo Groups, but only on Firefox, I deleted my login for Yahoo from Firefox. It still somehow remembered me as logged in in Yahoo Groups. I had to log out. I found when I modded my router to go to DD-WRT last month, the how-to mentioned Firefox would pull an old password out of the ether, and recommended using IE if on Windows. Now I have seen it, in case...

  • Odd, my work laptop using FireFox my Yahoo Groups don't work right, but they are fine with Internet Explorer. I was worried for a minute, but now have a new mystery to solve.
