      Subject: [NH] Use of comment tags

      This page: http://epicroadtrips.us/2013/scotland/

      has this section commented out:
      <!--<div id="navwrapper"> <div id="navigation"><?php include("w2navigation.php"); ?></div>
      </div>
      <div id="footernav"> <div id="navcontainer"><?php include("w2bot_nav.php"); ?></div>
      </div>-->

      But, the menus are still showing and with no CSS applied.
      Can anyone explain what is going on?

      Thanks,
      -Mike

      In your includes are more HTML comments which close the opened comments. As John pointed out, use PHP comments, or close the html comments before the includes

        As John pointed out, use PHP comments, or close the html comments before
        the includes and later reopen them:

        <!-- <div id="navwrapper"> <div id="navigation"> --><?php
        include("w2navigation.php"); ?><!-- </div>
        </div>
        <div id="footernav"> <div id="navcontainer"> --><?php
        include("w2bot_nav.php"); ?><!-- </div>
        </div> -->

              This is actually not the right way to comment out PHP. You're just
              breaking the opening PHP tag, thus converting the PHP code to a string
              which is output invisibly in the HTML comment. No harm done here, but I
              could easily come up with a scenario where this might not be a good idea.

              The right way would be:

              <?php // include("w2bot_nav.php"); ?>

              or

              <?php # include("w2bot_nav.php"); ?>

              or

              <?php /* include("w2bot_nav.php"); */ ?>
