      Here is the actual code from my style sheet which I modified
      according to all the suggestions but it still comes up with a white
      background, black letters and blue links. The other style sheet with
      the background image didn't work either so I left it alone until I
      get the basics to work again. I am using NoteTab 5.61 and I also
      would like to know how to validate my code. I did not see anything
      in the help section on how to do this.

        Just put the following in your .css file. NO <STYLE></STYLE> TAGS
        NEEDED!

        body {background-color:#FFCC99;
        color:#660000;
        font-family:Tahoma,Sans-serif;
        font-weight:bold;
        font-size:90%; }

        a:link {color:#660000; background:transparent; font-weight:bold;
        font-family:Tahoma,Sans-serif; }
        a:visited {color:#000000; background:transparent; font-weight:bold;
        font-family:Tahoma,Sans-serif; }
        a:active {color:#663333; bacground:transparent; font-weight:bold;
        font-family:Tahoma,Sans-serif; }

        In your markup it should be HREF="Style2.css" NOT REF="Style2.css"

        You also need a <BODY></BODY> tag.

        <html>
        <head>

            Joe, I'm repeating myself but *please* validate first and ask later.
            There is absolutely no use at all in asking questions about invalid
            code. If you tried to validate and have trouble understanding the
            results and seeing what's wrong (we all do that) then ask here by
            all means. But unless you get into the habit of always validating
            everything you do, then, unless you're a genius, you'll never be
            able to write a single working site.

            Go to http://validator.w3.org/ and install "html validator" in your
            Firefox. (If, like me, you're retaining Win98 you need version
            0.8.3.9, for others the newest will do fine.)
