Hi Steve, ... Save this as a template and open it. Works fine: = DocTemplate ClipCode NoName%0.2d ^!Save AS 123.txt ^!Set %FileName%=^$GetFilename(^*)$

      Hi Steve,

      >I want to create a template, and within this template assign a variable
      >the value(int) of the filename created by the template. I then want to
      >manipulate this value (ie. filename + 1, filename - 1). Is this possible?

Save this as a template and open it. Works fine:

      = DocTemplate ClipCode "NoName%0.2d"
      ^!Save AS 123.txt
      ^!Set %FileName%=^$GetFilename(^*)$
      ^!Info File name is: ^%FileName%
      ^!Inc %FileName%
      ^!Info [L]Incremented by 1: ^%FileName% ^%nl%^%nl% Now add 2:
      ^$Calc(^%FileName%+2)$

      Cheers,
      Ray Fitz
