You might try to use the variable ^%CARET% instead of plain ^.
Look for Variables in clip script help.

Subject: [Clip] Wizards and Caret
I have a template that includes several wizards and clips. The
wizards takes input, which could include any type of characters, and
inserts it into the page. The problem I'm having is if the wizard
input includes a caret ("^"), the clip stops entering the info, the
other clips in the template run, and then the info from the wizard
that stopped is entered. For example, I enter this in one of the wizards:
chars=" 0123456789abcdefghi jklmnopqrstuvwxy z+-*/=?^& ().,'!~$" ;
The wizard will stop at the 4th line, before the "^", then, when the
page has finished loading (and all the other clips have run), the
rest of the portion above is entered at the bottom of the page.
Anyone have any ideas how to get around this?
