BACKWARD SEARCHES WITH REGULAR EXPRESSIONS
- I wanted a search routine to find either a period, exclamation mark,
or query, SEARCHING BACKWARDS. Unfortunately, the search wizard will
not do Boolean -- well, it wouldn't for me. I thought I had found the
answer in a regular expression (character class search.) You will
find that as soon as you select a regular expression in the search box
it eliminates the upward search option. After some investigation I
tried "^!FIND "[.!?]" BRS" which is a backwards, regular expression,
silent search on the character class [.!?] -- my target characters.
When I called this clip, it worked fine, but only in the FORWARD
DIRECTION, unable to respond to the "B" switch. I wonder if there is
something in the documentation about this that I have missed.
Has anyone any ideas? I fear the problem lies with the RegEx engine
used by NoteTab, and that I shall have to use a lot more code to
achieve what I am after.
That said, NoteTab Pro is a fantastic tool and great value. For work
I have been doing I specially value its speed and stability.
- Hi uu_itchin
NoteTab cannot search backwards with Regular Expressions. I thought
it is somewhere in the helpfile but I couldn't locate it...
