the list. I am guessing that when the subject line is first precessed by
the list itself, the [Clip] os added to the subject line before sending out
the email to the list members. After that, if [Clip] appears anywhere in
the subject line, it is not added again. I do remember back in the old/bad
days, that every email would have [Clip] added to it so that sometimes you
could have six or seven or more of them in the subject line and everybody
was complaining about it.
As for the expanded subject line, I changed it to reflect a change in
subject but also ro refer back to the previous subject. As a matter of
courtesy, however, one can edit the subject line manually if I am not too
lazy or in a hurry and shorten it when replying to sucessive posts just
like I have here.

Again not pointing any fingers I really do not know who initiated this
expanded subject line and it really doesn't count...
Taking a moment to edit teh subject if you need to does fully resolve what
I see as the issue.
Thanks for putting it much more eloquantly (sp?) that I did.
